Big news around these parts. I am engaged. You might have already known this if you follow me on Instagram @carlee_rj. But anyways. I am really excited. Let me tell you a little more about our story....
Clark and I have dated for more then 3 years. We started dating our junior year of high school. After high school I went off to college at the University of Washington and he stayed home and worked until he went off to basic training for the army. So we have been dating long distance for about 1 and 1/2 years now. We have talked for quite a while now about how we wanted to get married someday and definitely saw each other in our futures. But once Clark joined the army it all became more real. We started talking about it more seriously.
During Thanksgiving when I went to visit Clark down in Georgia we looked at engagement rings. It was even his idea! So this engagement isn't a total suprise. I figured that if he really was going to propose it would be sometime over Christmas break. Well let me tell you, he cut it pretty close. He told me a while ago that he wanted to talk to my dad before he asked me. I told him that was great but even if my dad was negative about it, I still wanted to marry him. My dad loves Clark, he is just concerned about me finishing college and how hard army life is. Which is understandable.
On New Years Day, Clark finally got up the courage to ask my dad for his blessing. Which my dad gave with some thoughts like "she needs to finish school" etc. I thought the proposal might happen on January 1st since Clark was leaving back to Georgia on January 2nd. But it didn't. I actually got horribly sick with the flu on the 1st!! The next day I was better and taking Clark to the airport which is 2 hours away in Seattle. He was packing up his things, we talked on the couch for a while, and danced a little in his living room. Then he said alright lets go, so I turned around to get my stuff and when I turned back around. He was on one knee and everything! It was so sweet. And of course I said YES.
Well now the only things people want to know is when is the wedding and can I see your ring! Ha. I guess I should have seen that coming though. We don't know when the wedding will be. Maybe late this summer. I am definitely finishing out this year at UW and he has to finish his schooling for the army before anything happens.
I also thought I would share the rest of these photos, they aren't engagement photos or anything just cute couple photos!
